Sorry havent been on lately...been really busy with a couple of things....thinking of getting an Eclipse as a second city/winter/work/toy car. Havent done anything to the car lately but that might change in Feb....I wont tell you what though...

Well, the area is not that bad if you don't count the 28 straight days of rain. Other than that not too bad. I'm only about 100 miles from Portland and 50 from Seattle so there's plenty to do. Not many bmws here either. only old people have them. hope to hear from you soon

I'v heard sbout how cold its been over there lately so I know you guys are freezing your balls over there. Here is at an average of 45 to 50 daily. Oh my car overheated in Seattle this past weekend and got impounded. so 600 dollars later I got the car back home. Anyway, I changed the water pump and still overheating took off the thermostat..... still overheating, checked my oil .... oil was good, but water is not circulating in the radiator. And yes I burped it after I filled it back up. Does that sound like a head gasket to you? There is no sign of oil in the water or vice-versa but I think that it just happened from one day to the other and it hasn't had a chance to mix yet. Can anybody give me some advice because I'm about to take the head off and I want to be sure that this is the problem before I start tearing it apart.

It doesnt sound like the gasket per say...
Sounds more like there is something clogging the water jackets in the head.
Put something in the E-36 forum. And as I found out why you still have 38 posts... this forum doesnt count towards your numbers. That one does, so the more you write in the other forums then your numbers will go up. When we were working on Joe's car mine and his numbers shot up.
Man we had "freezing fog" over here this morning... that says how cold it is.

Well sounds like a head gasket to me...I just researched it at the other American Board that i am on and they say the same thing. LOL...luckily I am getting some work done to my car and one of the things they HAVE to change is that so no future probs for right now....

Ok I took the head off and made a terrible discovery. My head is warped and my rings were leaking on cylinder #1. so I have a motor on it's way from indiana. thank god for the craft shop here in Lewis cause if no i qould have to pay 3,600 just to install the engine. that snot to include the cost of a used engine. What are you doing this weekend Joe I'm gonna need some help. I'll buy you a six pack! LOL oh you too bilal but for you a pack of bedees. I hope that's how you spell it.

I pulled the motor this past weekend. I got one here for $700. I caught a break on the price. I was pretty simple and I had to do it all by myself. You guys need to move closer to me! Now I can just rebuild the block so when I replenish the funds I can get the stroker kit and the supercharger.

Cool...my camshaft change hit a roadblock. After changing the cams the car started to run funny after about 200km driven...this was semi expected due to 500km breakin time and then setting the timing on the chip. When my guy listened to the engine and saw it he said something else was wrong...to make a long story short and after removing and resetting the cams many, many times over the course of the last two days it was determined that my inlet valve on the VANOS is shot...causing the VANOS not to get enough oil if any....sooooo i have to get a new inlet valve(at least i hope that is all...). We will see today....

I get my motor tomorrow and I want to know what you guys think I should change before I put the motor in. I already got a new tensioner for the timing chain and all the usual filters and gaskets. Is there anything else I'm overlooking?

Depending on how much cash you got you might want to port & polish and check all of your valves. I mean the gaps. I heard if you increase the gaps you can get more burn room...means more HP.
But I still say ask in the other forum.
