the open filters are only good for sound...they don´t add horsepower.
You should put a vent, pipe...something, that makes the filter breathe cold air all the time. otherwise you´ll have less performance if the weather is really hot.

I think you can get something like that on the internet. Shops from the US got these Parts, or Ebay.com. I made it by myself, it looks the same works the same way but a lot cheaper

I think that they will also sell you just the heat shield.
That is if you dont want to fabricate youre own :)
