To all that may be able to help. I just installed a 2.5l in my E36. I had the 318iS in it. The ?? that I have is the wiring. On the cannon plug by the fuse box there is one plug and the new engine needs two what can i do?

Joe, somebody finally answered in the thread.
That second plug is for the ASR (whatever that is) and you don´t need to have in plugged in.
I was right with my idea! It´s the imobilizer which causes the problem. You have to manipulate that...i heard something about changeing all the locks and also the ignition lock.

He got the motor used from a 99 328.
Total cost was about 1000 Euro.
He got it from Auto Kolb.

Bipolar found some kind of way to bypass the computer so the car can start... Tell you about it when you get back.

hey all, since i have been over here in the states i have been doing some research. this guy i met at the bmw dealer told me that i could try and find a wiring harrness and a cumputer of an older 2.5. which takes out the ews system. they also said what bipolar said earlier bout changing all the locks and ignition. but i think there is another way to do it. bilal there is a place that i can get 5.5" screens for like 179.00. but ill be back on tuesday morning and we can do some brain storming.
